Why do Japanese authors think that it is okay to finish a series wit an inconclusive ending/confession. What are you trying to prove here? That Bossun hasn't grown one bit since the serialization began? I don't have a problem with having a philosophical ending. But why would you have Bossun reply like that to Hime? This is so stupid ffs. So sad to see that the most looked after romantic relationship ended like this. So disappointed.

I know its been years since the series ended and some people kinda dissapointed with the ending, but there's actually more to the ending. In manga paperback edition that released only in japan, kenta shinohara (the author) draw illustration of their future, and in that illustration there's a picture of the trio when they're already an adult with himeko and bossun wearing a matching ring on their wedding ring. So rest assured that the two Will end up together in the future.

There is an illustration Made by kenta shinohara in the manga special edition (released only in japan) that depicted the future of the characters, one of those show himeko and bossun wearing a matching ring in their ring finger. So its pretty much confirmed that they end up together in the future, which is not surprising considering the pararel with the headmaster and bossun parents in the series.

I mean, when i read the witch watch it seems that they already in some sort of long term relationship with each other, it just that bossun doesn't propose yet. Here she said that "i won't wait forever you idiot" and in witch watch, the literal translation she said "i also want to know what that idiot thinking about marriage", so i think she referred to the same person. Beside, to make her wait until she's in her 30's is not something that out of character for bossun to do, unfortunately, poor himeko. We also know from the next chapter that both himeko and bossun still close and event when to eat dinner together pretty often. So maybe they're in relationship but that's just my opinion. Until shinohara decided himself, it still just speculation.
