Been waiting for the Frankenstein parallels in the main story, we finally got it. Just as the monster was rejected by his creator, Shima became rejected by his mom. They each felt their creations too monstrous to deserve love. But while in Frankenstein the Monster goes on a murder/revenge quest, Shima just punished himself.
If you put it that way, would Mitsumi be the little girl the monster accidentally kills while playing???

Woah such a heavy moment with him trying to make his mom listen..
It’s weirdly gut-wrenching. I’m almost concerned for the author with how realistic this portrayal of a parental figure twisting your honest explanations into something negative. I feel extremely conflicted about Shima’s mom…. I don’t know if i as a reader will ever be able to truly view her positively in any way, but I suppose that’s just part of it all.

Taiga having a messed up sense of right and wrong sure is apt. Bringing elementary schoolers to your drinking sessions. Knowing they are public facing persons and what scrutiny theyre under in japanese society.

To all: please get in touch with your inner child like Shima.

Don't be afraid to feel silly talking to "yourself" aka your subconscious.

One method: Lie down, close your eyes and take 3 long breaths in/out. Imagine a place where your inner child can reside happily. Imagine a playground where your inner child can play happily. Imagine your child-like self playing there. Then interact with your inner child.

See what happens.

that's ririka I think (as he damaged her career), because he already escaped from the torches and confronted his creator.

Such a great chapter. Such a rare well done "trauma". Usually its just "I got rejected once when i was a kid and then i become afraid of girls" lame crap. While its true that people's trauma are their own, when its judgeable its judgeable.

Wow. We finally understand what exactly happened in the past. It all makes sense why Ririka was so pissed at Shima’s mom at the school festival. Shima also wouldn’t have been caught ditching if she didn’t tag along and the pic wasn’t posted online. So Ririka feels responsible for what happened too. His mom blamed him for everything when it was all her fault butting in on his acting and putting pressure on him. He never would’ve ditched then. Taiga was an actually making sure Shima wasn’t doing anything bad and was just helping him relax for once. His mom is the one who’s to blame for the whole thing.

What a chapter!

Finally I understand why Shima behaved and acted the way he did with his mom, the people around him and Mitsumi. It was really a traumatic experience he had. I'm glad, gradually with the people who really care about and love him, he find the means and the ways to heal himself and be there for himself. I hope Shima will continue to take in more the positives and be the beam of sunlight he is.

Thank you!

"Where did I go wrong?"
Everywhere, you horrible, horrible excuse of a mom, and somehow Shima managed to still turn out a good, if scarred, kid.

Peak and Loafer back on the menu

Absolute anguish seeing how Shima and his mom were in the past and how Shima wants to take that extra care to heal his inner child. Honestly curious on how Shima and his mom's relationship developed over time to the point where they are in the present.
