There are gods and magic in this story, so I would not be surprised if there are elements of divine fate at work, and that is why she was named Jelly.

The joke goes a little harder than that. While there are non-meat type Aspic, the term is more commonly taken to be interchangeable with 'meat jelly'. The mangaka is literally saying she's a meat bag suspended in jelly.

I've learned that in most manga, usually what seems to be the most predictable route, tends to be the one the author will most likely use, and only rarely do they try something new.

Examples:

A new character appears in a 2 pair romcom, artists draws them with far more effort than a mob, they appear on the cover art, have a whole chap dedicated to them, and they blushed ONCE when one of the main protags talked to them.

Copium readers: "THE NEW CHARACTER IS NOT A NEW LOVE INTEREST STFU COOMERS GO BACK TO WATCHING HENTAI YOU ACTUAL INCELS!!!!" 😡

Author: "So here is my new character, they are the new love interest, also here is a bonus extra love interest too just cause I feel like it. This a harem now K?"
