A dragon-repelling, slime-cleaving hero sounds like a total softie. Maybe I'm giving the tone so far more credit than Leon's cold soul-piercing gaze, but he can probably win against an elder slime if he can repel a dragon. Whether or not he's a match for a dragon, he let elder go, so the pattern is he let the dragon go as well, then maybe he's a slacker and everyone can be friends! Even if heroes have special abilities like actually gazing into souls, with detect life or (shudder) stats.

Somehow the gags hid enough backstory the plot doesn't feel random. I feel blessed by this saint. My main concern now is that Leon doesn't bully Lumir the savior's savior. The scale of what Lumir will be surprised by when she visits continues to grow...

gag aside, did thought that there might be something that was preventing leon from finishing off the dragon, and the village chief. guessing that as a hero, they can only inflict lethal punishments upon others if they are aligned more towards the evil side. the fact that leon's sword stopped right before damaging the village chief's core was kind of ridiculous. anyway, i am just reading between the lines, so my idea could be far off. .

Well, the hero seems somewhat suspicious 🤨. What is the worse that could happen?

I mean he's still a 'hero' unless he's a spy sent by the other ppl sent to take lady jelly out, but if anything, considering what's happened, or a report from that jellyfish cut selfish/lazy saint, I can totally imagine "other nobles/kingdom heard of lady jelly 'changing/getting a revelation', we must send someone to keep an eye on her just in case"

Either the latter or neither. Leon

• could be an upright person suspicious of Jelly's reputation, confused she doesn't want the glory of a pet hero,
• he could know the previous Jelly and be reacting to her new persona like other acquaintances, while acting like it's a first meeting only out of politeness,
• he could have instincts as you said, which I think is the most fun since it's a fresh dynamic,
• and/or he could have a power like Detect which counts as instincts plus extra info, like a Chosen One or off-the-shelf UNICLO fantasy protagonist

That is to say I see nothing painting him as a bad guy from a human perspective, or even a non-aggressive monster perspective.
