Doubt it, having a monster tamer hanging around Jelly is an easy joke for the author to bring up if Jelly takes him in, so I don't think they'll waste it by offing the guy here.

I do like the acknowledgment on the last page that Jelly has very little context for what the heck Berger is saying. She can tell he's deeply conflicted and has a functional moral compass, but she was entirely responding to what he said, without the knowledge of his backstory.
