Huh, I thought there'd be something sketchy in the hero's backstory, but I didn't see that coming.

Considering he's 'illiterate' i assumed he was an orphan taken in but you'd think they'd teach him basics if only to prevent danger or him signing some kinda bad contract

I assume he has his reasons, unless no one else knows, i doubt he'd be 'allowed' to be a hero if his father was some innocent saint/pillar of the community or so like how berger was ostracized for being a tamer despite never using his powers to hurt anyone before the other country manipulated him

Either that, or accidentally killed him during some situation that couldn't be avoided, or had to kill him because someone was physically controlling him, or had to kill because he was malicious...

I'd bet even if it was justified, patricide would weight heavily on such a straight-laced hero like him.

Well, in all honesty it depends on the circumstances. If you just straight up stabbed your father and murdered him just for shits and giggles then no, you can’t be saved. But if there were other circumstances then maybe I dunno I’m tired right now

The detail this mangaka puts into this series still impresses me, Erin the maid was in the back of the panel picking up the utensils Jelly dropped. Which is why I don't take any details for granted if it seems like it could have even a bit of plot relevance.

AFAIK it's a writing team, and you're right, there's all kinds of things going on in the background, like Leon mentioned when he was introduced he had repelled, not killed a dragon, and when a dragon showed up later it was missing part of its tail, was heavily scarred and only had one eye, so the authors are doing a lot of groundwork unusual to the genre

That's interesting? As far as I know, this series is made by a pair of mangaka, the usual pair of writer + artist. And of course as a serialized series, they will have one or more editors, usually one. Did you mean that or they have something more elaborate.

If you are referring to my calling the mangaka a singular entity, that would be my bad, I defaulted to that since that's how we would refer to them in Japanese.
