No I think she's just meant to be a tomboy that MMC didn't realise was a girl because short hair, masculine way of speaking, masculine clothes, etc. Mistaking a girl as a boy only to find out they're a girl later is pretty common. It's the BL, gender swap, cross dressing tags that confused me, if they weren't there I would have gotten it pretty quickly I think.
