It's already been stated in this manga why Umimi dated Takt. Yes, she's into Riku, but she knows/knew that Riku is in love with Shizuku, so she went for the next best option to stay close to him: Dating his best friend who's inseparable from him and basically a brother.
She didn't shoot her shot, because she believed she didn't have one. It took Yako to convince her that as long as Riku ain't dating, she had a chance.

Honestly, it's pretty logical, considering this girl is traumatized to hell and back because of her family/step-dad.

However here's what I want to happen: Umimi finds porn that belongs to Riku. That porn is NTR porn. So she decides to date Riku's friend to be more attractive to be more attractive to Riku, because Riku is into NTR. Make this a proper dumpster fire!

Mal posso esperar para que esta série inevitavelmente salte o tubarão e revele que Takt era secretamente um protagonista de mangá de batalha shounen na veia de Campione-lite e ele tem tido que "datar" todos os interesses amorosos de Riku para impedi-los de serem levados e controlados pela mente por um misterioso terceiro malvado para conquistar todas as mulheres questionáveis legais no Japão.

E que Takt também era secretamente uma mulher o tempo todo e sabotando todos os outros candidatos para o RikuBowl para que ela fosse a única escolha lógica no final. Tudo estava indo de acordo com o plano até que o Yako apareceu.
