These long chapters are self published books sold at comiket twice per year. They’re not side stories. They’re all canon events in the series. It’s just that twice a year the author releases a higher production value special edition.

we have to then retroactively number them with a .5 to fit them in at least roughly in chronological order for if you’re reading from the beginning.
