Enjoy,

Gonna agree with A-Ting here... please speak simpler chinese TT^TT

Granny vs Granny: English doesn't have the same number of words used for relatives compared to chinese so a bit of this is lost in translation. The 'granny' the men use to address the elder at the start is in a somewhat respectful manner. The 'granny' they then all use to address Long Nu is even more respectful. I thought about using a different word for this one but nothing in english really fit too well.

Pro-war and pro-peace factions: The names of these factions are from older times. The literal translation is 'support war party' and 'support peace party'. However what's interesting is that in chinese they can also be thought of as 'war hawks' and 'peace doves'.

Ministry of personnel: Literally, this is 'Shangshu Mansion'. It's a real part of history that refers to an administrative body responsible for managing official documents and personnel affairs in ancient China.

Even in death, ministers counsel. Even in death, warriors fight: Ok I had to come up with my own paraphrase for this as the original is a short 6 character chinese idiom. It basically means civil servants should be willing to sacrifice their lives for admonishment(even against the emperor) in order to uphold justice, and military generals should be willing to fight with their lives to win wars. I'm pretty sure she's saying this to point out that these types of minsters and warriors die, which the Li family wants to avoid.

Li Muxian’s eyebrows give me life.

i feel like unless we know the emperor’s stance on pro-war and pro-peace it’s difficult to understand the subtext of this conversation. does he agree with the crown prince?

edit: anyone know if the Mang mountain conflict is related to the Chen empire conflict? for some reason i thought they were separate since there seem to be multiple kingdoms in the mortal world.

anyway it’s kinda weird to picture that the emperor actually managed to bounce back from when he was intensely obsessed with alchemy. i really thought he was doomed and someone else would take over.

I'm not super clear on it but Mang mountain is amongst the 100k South-West mountains and overall they are definitely antagonistic towards the Chen. I'm not sure if they participated in the last war directly alongside the Di, but they would've had some allied relations.

Long Nu protected Mang Mountain for a long time and was part of the plans organised by Proxy of Heaven. However she was actually against it all since she did eventually die when transferring information to A-Ting. She seems to have had some relation with Li Muxian, who now protects Mang Mountain in her stead (He had to descend to guard some mortal place anyways, he could choose to specifically guard Mang Mountain).

The joke with Madam Li saying that she is most proud that all children of her house are exceptionally smart, followed by A-Ting downright proving that not all actually are, is pretty hilarious... But it really makes me want that an actual true encounter between the two happens at some point. She is her grandmother after all, and the one who drowned her in the river, to boot... It feels like the author has been teasing this very thing for the longest time already (A-Ting's mother is already dead, and then, there is the emperor himself). But it doesn't seem like the author feels compelled to follow through with it. Will this never happen...? That would be a pity...
