You can literally tell that there is a well constructed plot but editors and the magazine try to stretch it as much as possible. When people start to vocalize their discontent the editor say "the next story development point..." 8 volume masterpiece series turn into 25 volumes medicore one...

I guess the author could just commit to making Non a complete, irredeemable asshole but like what if she simply feels that "ah yeah that was a mean thing to say when I was a kid, sorry." Should Marin still freak out on her?

I'm very torn between the realistic possibility that she just said something stupid when she was a literal child vs the author displaying a big cartoon villain for Marin to shout at and prove her love to Gojo through. I'm surprised so many people are convinced it's going to be the latter.

I've always been of the opinion that a fictional romance without drama or setbacks is a boring one. I still feel that way.

And Non was going to show up at some point, since she's a physical representation of Gojo's trauma, as well as a source of it.

And I realize that the series is a cosplay series with a romance subplot, not the other way around. The timing though, it's a bit much.

It isn't a "cosplay series with a romance subplot", huh? Why is someone typing this every 3rd month to excuse the romance being subpar? That just is not the case.
The cosplay aspect is severly watered down to "Gojo works hard and suffers like a wage-worker to finish on time + some seldom struggle" and "Marin wears cosplay". We had the indepth explanation like twice across 100 chapters. Could call it bait at this point. You might be able to add their dreams on top etc. but that is where it being a "cosplay series" ends.

Also, the romance was introduced incredibly early. It was fleshed out and obvious until monthly releases. Around that time, when the author had Marin have the grand realization "I do want to date, I will confess", was when they changed Marin, out of the blue, to be infinitely more passive and show less everything to him (e.g. reaction to cosplay or him being THIS much in pain). By now she has pretty much forgotten that she was in love with Gojo, true but fact is that it was major at one point.
Calling the romance bad, neglected or underdeveloped/utilized now would be understandable but it is not a subplot.

Well I'm putting this series off till like December when 7 more chapters come out hopefully this misunderstanding drama will be over by then. Sucks that it even happened in a monthly series, would have understood if it happened in a weekly series.

Placing my bets he chose Non by that time and we add a Tragedy tag on manga.

Some of this shit could have been circumvented with some extra dialogue. Not even a lot. Seeing peeps say answering the phone when friend talking rude, 100%. Easy fix. Have the phone ring, Wakana looks at it but says it can wait cuz Marin had something to say. Marin at this point is so deep in her avoiding to make progress in talking about what she wants to that it 100% would make sense for her to be like: "no, it's not important I can tell you after! Go for it!" Still not great but Atleast consistent given Wakana is still the type who would have apologized for interrupting and Marin is in a stage of weirdness.

Regardless. Love seeing no actual progress. Like I know 2 month hiatus means author probs had to take a break so they haven't been working on this 2 months but still. Surprise trauma childhood friend also. Does the lady who called wakana not have any idea that Wakana doesn't like Non Chan or whatever? Guess they just didn't pay attention to anything that may have stood out. But his expression is so obviously unenthusiastic, unless next chapter somehow alters it so he's not like this. Obvs it was all for drama. The person calling to say she's back as he walks in and she's there. But still.

It's interesting to see that people are looking fir the costume designer as well not just the cosplayer so that's definetaly a new thread the story can explore. I imagine the cousin will see that Wakana makes these high quality outfits and try to make use of it somehow. Tho that's only if she's some mega manipulative shithead archetype. If not I can see her just interacting awkwardly with Wakana about the past and his new skill set and maybe getting a costume made through some contrivance.

Kinda wanna just drop this and come back in a year when there might be a li'l progress idk.
