The pacing of this manga has been kinda awful the last dozen or so chapters. We got at ultra dragged out drama arc that led to nothing, then a few sol chapters, and then it ends. Also a lot of characters just faded into obscurity after their arcs, and loose ends seem to remain.

the ending yeah, it wasn't bad the last part, when they started to be together and the finale was a nice ribbon.... BUT holy crap the author milked the f*ck outta the series, it stretched a lot without being subtle at all (waited to get an anime), it irks me how the misunderstanding was made about the confession (at least fireworks works better ffs)
TBH, all I remembered about that series is the finale, and what I was talking about was also the finale :pacman:
I was a bit worried and felt it was dragging a bit in the middle of chapter, but it made sense at the end. The middle part of the series? Yeah, totally dragging. It wasn't so bad when binge reading, but not so good either; but if you were waiting to read it weekly (or bi-weekly?) that's a torment.
A good comparison I can think of was probably the candy island arc of One Piece. People also complained about the slow pace; but I was reading them it in bulk in the volume release and the story pace was totally fine; but reading it weekly must be tormenting. Dosanko Gal wasn't that though.

This is so stupid. we JUST GOT STARTED and somehow it's over. Even more ridiculous considering that the previous chapter was a complete nothing burger. Author just got bored of the story didn't she?

I wish more mangakas could be more like Kei Sasuga, just go all in after the HS romance plot and write about MCs early adulthood. Sure, you risk getting axed before you can make a good, cohesive ending. At least you tried.

Author wants to write a story

People bitch that it isn’t the story they wanted to read

Author goes fuck it, it ends

People bitch that the story they kept bitching about is now ending

-Just about to finish their first year of high school
-Searching the mysterious cosplayer plot
-The spin-off manga literally just started
-The series just had a big 5th year exhibition in tokyo
-2nd season anime this year

I'm sure the mangaka had some good reason on her side (health complication from rumors)
No way the publisher would axe it themselves, kisekoi is literally is in peak popularity right now

WAT THE FUCK! :notlikethis:

It didn't read like it's supposed to end next chapter at all, even this whole chapter lol. Feels like we were about to start the next arc.

I hope the mangaka will go back to this one day. It'd be such a waste and what could've been otherwise :\

Eh? Wasn't expecting the final chapter to be the next one.

I feel like there was still some stuff it was working towards and left unresolved...on top of it being impossible to show their official couples life to any real capacity (unless they have clearance for the next chapter to be a loooot of pages).

What a shame.

1. Not every person online is the same person
2. Most people that stay around and criticize are talking about arcs/characters instead of the whole story
3. There will always be critics, it’s human to not like everything.
4. Some take it too far, that’s sadly true.

considering she had to put a bigger gap on the episodes, i think the mangaka had health or life issues and couldn't continue drawing it.
a lot of the things started concluding quickly after she stopped doing weekly releases.
which usually indicated burnout, either physical or mental.
The first big thing that really threw me off was the Non thing.
Author hyped that up and then it just… stopped?

At first I thought that there was a fight between author/editor/publisher/readers about it.
Felt almost like defiance.

My mind seeks the answers to what causes these cases and to how the industry handles these cases, but since we’re talking about real human beings here, I know it’s not our place to pry into that.

It’s complicated. :salute:

I never expected to end next chapter but it doesnt feel wrong either. Although, I would have liked to see them as a couple too, so it is a pity it is ending so soon.

It seems quite sus to end next chapter.

What about the Tokio plotline, for example?

If Fukuda-sensei does have health issues, well, it makes sense. There's no way this is being axed, as it sells a lot and still is popular in Japan and abroad.

What is the deal with such a widespread allergy of writing couple life among Japanese Authors?
Is it lack of personal experience?
Fear of reprisal from parasocial parasites?
