She's got it BAD when it comes to dressin' up her man. Gonna kill herself with all the doki-doki she's causing.

IDK ... I'm starting to get this sinking feeling. Like, the author has made this VERY one-sided all of a sudden. It's okay to show that she has fallen for him and wants to confess but the timing is somehow never right. But him acting very indifferent towards her feels like he just lost interest. Part of the fun was seeing him also flustered, going doki-doki, and looking at how cute she was but all of that seems like it's gone.

With the way things are going he will reject her when she confesses. Then we have several chapters of drama before he comes to the realization that he liked her all along. Then he has to make some big public gesture to win her back. I hope the author doesn't go that route. But it sure feels/seems/smells like it's heading in that direction.

I'm setting my expectations low and if things end up better than expected I'll consider that a win.

Bromance part at the end was pretty funny. Guys rarely got compliments like that so makes sense the friend was ecstatic about it.

But I do agree the plot has stagnated a little bit. Issue is that the manga is about cosplay and romance. I think the last arc will be better as a reread, but it did feel slow in real-time. The side characters have been relatively good and entertaining but their plots have sidelined the main characters with minimal payout. I think the best result was the girl stanning over Marin but I actually think her character was misused. When she was introduced I thought she was going to show our characters how to make props. By focusing on the characters growing their cosplay skills it allows growth while still stretching out the romance. By focusing on the growth of the side characters, we instead feel like the relationship of the MCs are stuck in ice if not regressing.

Maybe I'm just a simple person with simple tastes, but I don't see the problems some people are having. I've always viewed this as a coming-of-age story where Marin and Gojou's relationship (in a more general sense of the word "relationship", not just the romantic sense) is the driving force of their growth.

Basically, the genre could be described as comedy/romance, but to call that the point would be an oversimplification.

Also I'm not exactly surprised it has moved away from the "ecchi" as time goes on. People are invested enough that they don't need constant T&A to care anymore. I've seen the same pattern happen countless times, it's a hook to get eyes on the page first. After that the author can focus on what they're really interested in doing because they've already established an audience.

The series is a commentary on aspects of the anime/otaku culture, with cosplay as the pretext.
The "cosplaying" may seem pointless to some, but the point of those sections is in fact to introduce and explain a certain genre/phenomenon/activity within the anime/manga subculture, showcasing what exactly is it that makes this genre/activity so captivating to the ones who are immersed in it.
By centering the discussions around fictional titles, the author has a chance to highlight what's so charming about the genres themselves and the commonalities of the genres without being tied down by specific quirks of irl famous titles (which are often what fans of those titles go crazy over when talking about those titles but not necessarily what makes those titles good).

Many people call Gojou a self-insert protag, to which I say they're totally missing the point of the series. The real self-insert of the series is obviously Marin the hyper otaku, whose takes a so based most readers can find ones they can emphasize with, and in turn start to understand the beauty of things they weren't into before through her other takes.

Marin is clearly having the time of her life with her dreamy waifu Gojou, I dunno why everyone's worrying so much about their relationship progress.

In one chapter:
  • Teens decides to kill God, again
  • Gojo got the drip. Only natural for a tailor
  • NTRs Marin by calling someone else beautiful/handsome right in front of them

Am I crazy or has this series stagnated. Ever since around issue 50 (2 years ago) they've just repeatedly introduced a new character, have a little arc about them , have a token interaction with both MC's in one issue, then immediately move onto the next. The focus of the story is the new character, not the MC's or the romance. We have downgraded to pure reaction thought bubbles + blushy face, something resigned for the worst romance manga's with zero progress. Something reserved for the
'Confession into Time Skip' on the final issue scum, then bane of romance mangas, which this has slowly becoming.

Remember when he was squishing her on top of him, or accidently almost kissing, anything that involves the two main characters. Anything, instead we get "cosplay shots", sorry I don't care about your profile and showing off you side work as a vTuber creator. I cared about the interactions with the characters.
I don't care for the cosplay but... THIS WHOLE MANGA IS ABOUT COSPLAY so I can't really complain

Is there any actual manga like Mandate? I can think of Berserk and MADK and I like those two, but they don't have scary biblically accurate angels in them. Any recommendations?

I think MC is going to make a masterpiece this time and get some serious character development. The focused face we got some chapters ago was too amazing to mean nothing. And all these hints about the manga and author they are cosplaying this time are suspicious, maybe the manga author is going to compliment MC or something.

But if "whole manga is about cosplay" why author is dragging the confession? I mean no one forbid them cosplaying as a couple, it could be even more interesting and, IMO, their relationship while being a couple may also be very interesting and entertaining. The more confession is delayed the more people are pissed and less the care about cosplay.

At this point Gojo rejecting the confession and them going back to square one one is better than dragging it for 10 more chapters.

Wait so the angels in "Mandate of Heaven" become Bible-accurate angels as they rise the ranks...?

To those having any kind of phobia, please save yourself from not looking into it
I would add that the angels Gojo describes is not halfway to those Ezekiel saw...
