I don't trust Tata or the kitty. I feel like Tata is at the vary least just using the MC if not some ulterior motive. She just has this conniving aura to me. The cat-girl is her friend so I can't say info from her wouldn't be biased (I don't know if she is in on it or if she has her own angle).

When the cat-girl heard that he was on a date she imitatively tried to separate the mc form the dragon with no real explanation. I thought for sure she was going to nark on the MC on where he was the night before.

Did she bring him into a jewelry shop to try to trick him into buying something in her stead?!

The conversation with the hooligans was also vague. I have a hunch they were actually overly attached clients stalking her.

More or less correct. From what I remember of the WN (which is hazy and also not exactly the same as the story here) she was using him, but then developed actual feelings for him and ran away out of guilt. He interprets this as her never having any feelings for him and leaving the moment he stopped being useful. She runs into the elf girl, and together they decide to chase after him to explain things properly. (Also in the WN, the whole harem thing was the girls' ideas after they met each other, and he was just looking for a girlfriend)

To be honest, that seems about right for where we are headed.

For that last bit though.
The reasoning for the harem in that story at least makes more sense. Here he, and everyone he meets, throws around Harem as if the word is synonymous as companion, or partner in a non-romantic way. "Oh you want to create a harem? How lovely. Hey, dear; why don't you join him? I'm sure it will be lots of fun." I get that the original story had the worst ending, but the concept for everything else leading up to it was at least reasonable/logical?/believable.

I miss the other manga version of this.
