Volume 1 had to juggle between two timelines, the current day after they’re married, with flashbacks to the days when they are still enemies. Which, I think is difficult to navigate.

The author’s story premise is “they’re already happily married working adult couple”.
But because they’re not just normal people, he also need to fill us out on their supernatural battle past and how it’s all over now, thus the flashbacks.

Agreed. That one scene is the go-to plot point for starting most NTR stories. I hope it is in favor of the husband that actually tried in the relationship if this does go down that shit hole.
