The art seems… weird. Stiff and character’s expressions look off. I will probably drop this here.

I feel like I just witnessed a manga author declare war on wabi-sabi, because the contrast of that bait-and-switch hits HARD:

Let's open with a narrated series of vignettes in flashback that focus on fond memories of relationships of unrealized romantic potential. Memories of sparks between a boy and girl that never catch to flame, of mutual yearning never given voice, of friends that part and look back over their shoulders out of sync before rounding different corners. Let's acknowledge that these are stories that are beautiful because of their flaws, because of their unresolved loose ends... because of the fact that they're over, and we've turned the last page and closed the back cover and put them down a long time ago and now they're just part of who we are. As the main character clumsily calls them, memories that are "movies without sequels."

Now that that's out of the way, let's welcome those girls back to enjoy one (1) ISO-standard horny-ass harem manga.

Is there a novel for this? It'd be interesting to know if this talk about the quality of Japanese cinema is supposed to be happening in a world before or after Godzilla Minus One outclassed the entirety of mainstream Hollywood for the cost of a sandwich in LA.

A part of me likes the idea of these stories. But the fact that only one girl can win makes it so frustrating. Everything we learn from the not winning girls is just so the heartbreak at the end feels worse. For me it just feels wrong

Only reading because its Mikawa Ghost (author of Gimai Seikatsu). I don't know how well he'll perform in manga format, much more a harem setting.

I'm not the biggest fan of VN. But that's an absolute fair point.
For me the best solutions are the harems where every girl wins. Well more or less. But this mostly doesn't happen in this "realistic" settings.

That...was not a bad first chapter at all, I'm honestly pleasantly surprised. I tend to approach series of this genre with some justified pessimism but this wasn't bad at all, in fact I liked it a bit.

Thank you for translating and sharing this!

Let me guess.. she was the person on the phone and now collected all those girls and wants to make a rom-com about it.. looking at the moment where she interrupted him twice she probably also knows he likes her 🥲

After reading the 4 Chapters, i think it has a really good potential the girls, setting and main plot are unique and solid. I just wish the protag had more of a personality. Some edge like Hachiman or disinterest like Fuutarou would of been good.
