Was the durability stat of this sword shown before ?
I guess that with his massive strength, the "hero"(lol) will break the sword with his first swing.

I think that is actually what happens when the hero gets that sword, that is, it broke shortly after he used it.

Would they demand a refund as they will never accept it is their fault

Whenever I read a character saying/thinking "it's (totally) alright." I think of a deep narator voice saying right after "it (totally) wasn't alright."

someone wants to meet him, yeah that sounds like bad news.

But he dismissed it entirely, there's a chance it is good news that will have to catch to him another way.
