@Fuko Unfortunately that's the gist of the plot, regardless of how ridiculous it sounds.

If you love prehistoric settings you might consider reading the series The Clan of The Cave Bear (Earth's Children). Its about a young girl getting separated from her people and ends up being raised by "flatheads". I will say women will enjoy it more than men imo, but then again my guy friend was the one to recommend it haha. There's 6 books to the series with an average of 700 pages each.

Either they're all members of the Lollipop Guild or that's a retardedly huge mammoth. It would dwarf Deinotherium or even Paraceratherium, and with mammalian bones would probably outweigh sauropods like Brachiosaurus.

That....is a LOT of meat.

@Northern
Maybe it was a Songhua River Mammoth? 17 feet tall, 29 feet long, and 22,000 pounds.

I started looking into them way back when they were introduced as possible opponents in this series. It would still make the people in this series pretty short, though. They look about a quarter the mammoth's height. Which would make them 5 feet tall, or the mammoth 20+.

See? Taking down a mammoth isn't that hard; you just have to yeet yourself at it with a spear from a high place for extra damage.

Songhua River Mammoth tap out at 14.8 ft tall for the Mosbach specimen, although 17 ft is certainly within the realm of possibility.
However, looking at the illustrations in pages 1 and 3, if Taiga is 6 ft tall that mammoth would be 25 - 30 ft tall at the shoulder. That's the height of the biggest Brachiosaurids like Giraffatitan at the shoulder.

Taiga is an average Japanese teenager. According to the current consensus, Adult Japanese males have an average height of 5'7.4. But we also know that Taiga is a 'shrimp' who is shorter than the average, since he's exactly the same model as the main character from Holyland. (I love that series. Maybe I should go read it for the 4th time)
Saying he's 5'5 would still put the mammoth between 20 and 24 feet high. Which seems too big, considering the largest one found was the 17 foot tall one I was using as a reference. https://scribol.com/science/paleontology/the-largest-elephant-that-ever-existed/4/

Admittedly, that's a skeleton. And the 'meat', fat, and fur on said bones could add quite a bit of overall height to the shoulder. Just not THAT much, lol.

I think that no matter how much 'realism' the artist usually tries for, we're going to have to just set this particular instance as 'artistic liscense'.

the artist has 0 sense of scale in this chapter, the third page alone looks like dogshit.. Which is a shame since I like this manga.
