in my experience when they use this phrasing it usually means more indetermined or unknown length break but not generally super long which when translated to english people seem to choose indefinite which we take to mean a break with no realisitic end in sight since that's how indefinite is usually used.

Like mangaka might be like "I kinda want like 4-6 weeks break maybe" so they don't know how long and use whatever word in JP but then it gets translated to indefinite which we view more as like "a long fucking time, we don't even know when the break could be over"

It does feel like Serie is expecting her own death in this ball. She said it before, what would kill her and Frieren, if it's not the demon lord, then it would be a human. The Empire, full of humans who can do magic, the Empire built by her human discple Flamme.

I'm wondering if the thing she wants this team to surpass her expectation on is not that they would protect/save her but maybe something else. Maybe even something to do with the Empire instead. Afterall, if she dies in this ball, whether good or bad, it'll impact the Empire heavily and this Empire is one of Flamme's legacy.
