ah, Qual had such a nice design, pity.
why couldn't he have become something like, "now that he has lost purpose, he has stopped the slaughtering" and has become some side character repenting by helping people.
Would fit the mood of being in the age after all the historical stuff has happened
@Throwawail Well, when one is sealed away then it could be argued that their time completely stops(depending on the type of seal). It's very likely that to him one moment he was fighting the hero's party, and the next he wakes up to Frieren and an unknown woman come to kill him. Literally no time passed for him, meaning his personality was the exact same as it was back then. As such, he wouldn't have had any time to think about things in some void like a certain dragon-turned-roommate and thus wouldn't have came to the conclusion that coexistence was a possibility. Furthermore, there was likely no way he would even consider repenting since he was the same as he was all that time ago, and even if his magic had truly become "basic offense magic," if he was given enough time he'd surely develop a stronger magic that could undo all of their research and effort, thus allowing him the opportunity to continue his efforts to wipe out humanity in his late master's stead. They couldn't afford to let him be for even a day, and he knew that. His only option was to kill Frieren and escape, but the moment he was sealed 80 years ago was the moment he lost. His fate was, quite literally, sealed.
This doesn't make me feel anything specific in particular but it sure does me feel empty, as if as a reminder of shortness of human life.
I don't like it.
