I think you've got it backwards, this actually fits really well with the overall theme about being careful about judging. Frieren is someone who appears cold and collected on the outside, but we see repeatedly from her actions that she's really trying her best for people despite being a different species and not entirely getting humanity. Yet if you remember at the funeral for example, humans were judging her for her exterior. Meanwhile the demons genuinely are utterly cold emotionless psychopaths on the inside, but put on a warm, "emotional" exterior and many humans lap it right up. They're like mirrors of each other. It's really nicely setup.

The Demons are the thematic opposite of Frieren in every way. Demons are overly empathetic to Frieren jaded demeanor. Demons leverage the human nature to ultimately backstab them. While Frieren even if she can't connect with humans, she ultimately try to save people. Know we have Demons thinking their magic as superior in opposition to Frieren's view that all magic is worth learning.

I think Aura will be someone who like Frieren in someway. Someone who acknowledges their people fault but then tried to ensure their supremacy. Rather than Frieren's passive thinking.

Hope they continue their journey soon, I'm eager to find out what is the significance of Aureole(see chapter 7), the 'place where souls gather', the center of soul research, and the place which people, at least previously, called 'the Heaven', and what's its connection to it now being the very center of the Demon Realm, with the Demon King castle now in that very place. Obviously there's a connection, but what exactly happened back there?

I can't get behind humanoid races being inherently evil. We are what our environment makes us and biology is not a deciding factor for our moral framework.
This kind of black & white trope just reminds me of racist propegando created by nazi Germany and American slave owners.
For these demons who are capable of human thought and emotion (anger and pride, both showcased in this chapter) to not also be capable of compassion and empathy makes 0 sense.
Don't get me wrong this manga is fucking epic and has made me tear up. Hopefully they will show that the demons are capable of good and not just cold hearted manipulation.
Narratives about a race or group like this have historically been harmful.
