Kinda sounds like Azur?? Since the mana on the scale was drawn in a blue shade it could make sense.

Honestly, I kind of feel bad for Aura and would like to know more about the demons. Why are they all so focused on annihilating the humans? If their emotions are just an act then why do they fear death? If they are cunning and highly intelligent then why wont they search for a different way of living?

That was savage, Frieren ;)

That said ... the author says in one chapter that demons can't limit their mana just after a chapter when 3 demon captains were said to be limiting their mana? Hum ... either there was a mistranslation or the author slipped a bit.

I like the writing for this chapter way more than the last one.
The writing has been pretty good most of the time - ESPECIALLY how these demons seem different from every other type I've seen before.
But last chapter was just "hiding your power level is cowardly!" "Yes, it's cowardly and disgraceful." "Who could even think of something as cowardly as hiding your power level?" "Hiding your power level, what's wrong with you?"

This chapter explains the demon's reaction and how they got tricked way better - and retroactively explains the last chapter better too.

@rrolo1: Flamme kind of explained it this chapter. There's a difference between hiding your status/power for a bit to surprise someone (visiting town incognito, or an ambush) and doing it as a long term thing. Plus, the 3 demons last chapter stopped limiting their mana as soon as they saw they were going to kill mages.

Everyone who can sense mana within 50km just crapped their pants.

Thanks for the chapter!

@rrolo1 It's not that they are incapable of limiting their mana, it's just unimaginable to do it for an extended period. It's the difference between a rich and powerful man dressing like a peasant for fun or subterfuge, and truly casting away his wealth and influence.
Without the full extent of their mana unleashed, demons have no position or influence in demon society.
