Kraft is a cool guy, and while I kind of hope we'll see him again, I don't think we will.

Also, to live so long to the point of becoming forgotten by the world is truly depressing. Like, Frieren is at least a thousand years old, and she doesn't even have a hint of who Kraft is. Maybe that is the reason that he became a devout, to have someone in the end to remember him.

@metaldog564 You summarised this chapter perfectly 😭

Bollocks. People these days remember people like Caesar, Alexander the Great and Co better than their own local politicians. Do something big enough and a few thousand years are nothing to history.

I seriously would be in deep despair if the author continue the story to show Frieren outlive Fern and Stark

Hmm, Frieren has lived over 1,000 years n looks like 10 years old human. That guy looks like at least 20-30 years old human, so he probably has lived over 2,000-3000 years...

@Pyoro On the other hand, how many people remember the name of one of the SEALs that shot Bin Laden, or one of the Russians that stormed the Reichstag, or that helped Mitsuhide Akechi siege Nobunaga's castle? Yeah, the hero will be remembered, but 3000 years later nobody's going to remember some random monk that saved a couple towns, much less "the mage that helped the hero". They want to know that people will actively remember them, not just read about them in books (which in this setting don't seem to be particularly common anyways).

@Art_of_Tsundere_-Sun_Tsun I mean, Genghis Khan is also remembered for supposedly dying from falling off his horse while hunting, so take that with a grain of salt.

Edit: And Attila the Hun supposedly died of a nosebleed on his wedding night.

Now this chapter puts some things about the world in perspective. I hadn't thought about this before, but actually it seems felling the Demon Lord is kind of a routine. There was never a doubt it would happen, and the people who did it just did their job. Yes, statues were built and names are being thrown around, but the next time A Demon Lord appears, same thing will happen. The statues won't have the meaning of an individual, but of a concept (The Hero who defeated the Demon Lord, as opposed to Himmel; somewhat like a statue to the Fallen Soldier).

On the other hand, the still melancholy and the loneliness of long lives causing such alien perspectives on life.

On the other hand, elves are pandas of this world and questionable sleeping arrangements.

I love this series.

Well in Tolkien's world elves cannot die from age, only from suffering a mortal wound or extreme weariness, hence that could explain why most don't partake in relationships because it leads to heartbreak if something went haywire or they just are asexual.

Maybe his actual name is "Monk Kraft" but people just assumed he meant "I'm Kraft, the Monk" which explains the look he gives to people who says that. also the fact he barely gave a shit about a defeated demon king says just how old he is, "that's neat i guess", basically implies he was around before the appointment of the current demon king and probably was alive when the predecessor fell. but from most humans perspective, the current demon king WAS the demon king, not out of ignorance but simply due to the sheer length of the most demons lifespans, making extending the title to "demon king of the year XXXX to XXXX" pointless to humans.
