They are probably biologically immortal. Only die from being destroyed, maybe illness too? Since that's the body stop functioning. But they dont age to death.

God, I love that a fantasy series has an actual "technology" research tree, and if you don't keep up like with that sealed demon, you're fucked.

I sort of agree with Serie. Teaching magic to everyone is just asking for trouble. Can you imagine the damage a deranged magic user would cause?
I mean yeah there could be measures to prevent it, but it'd still result in massive deaths and other horrors sooner or later.

There's also an issue with someone governing who can and can't have access to magic. That's just asking for people to be oppressed.

Magic for all, depends on what kind of magic they are gonna learn. For example Flamme's favourite spell can't hurt anyone.
Our technology is kinda the same, they could also regulate it

There is probably a point where they do die of old age. But that's probably so far away in the future that, statistically, all elves so far have died due to other reasons
