Just once, I would like to see the MC in an Isekai try to describe rice and get handed a bowl of barley. Really, milled (or 'pearled') barley is just like what he just described, and doesn't taste that different from rice. And I'm certain that if that conversation happened in Europe instead of pseudo-Europe, (and if they weren't in a part of Europe that ALREADY HAD RICE because it was brought to Europe by Alexander the Great and has been eaten in Mediterranean Europe and North Africa ever since) that people would have thought the MC was describing barley instead of saying 'nope, never heard a nothin like that' like in the Isekais.
