Actually, I've seen this kind of explanation in
many magical girl stories. It's kind of a trope that gets joked about quite often.
For this one, I didn't think it had that kind of setting in place, since the main boy was able to recognize her in her different forms, so I thought everyone else in the series were just oblivious, until this chapter explained that it's only mostly-effective.
