@ABCsOfLife what you say is partially true but when asked "please do not do x thing" in this case spoilers does not give you a free pass to post them anyway just because they asked you politely, specially when the mods are giving a specific place to allow them, they are giving us a place when spoilers are ok and at the same time telling us that that place is not the manga comment thread, the notice is not a reminder to people so they just don't get too carried away with giving spoilers, is to tell us that "please do not put spoilers here, use the individual chapter's thread instead" because if you where right it would be worded completely different like "keep spoilers in moderation" or "please keep spoiler to a minimum" and keep the "where spoilers are allowed" and "Please do not post spoilers" out.

@zeroxjac I can't help but mentioned this but I did say "mostly reminder".

Well if you want to play it like that, then what? You want to delete their right to give that one comment even if they use the spoiler tags?
Example, am I wrong to give direction here?

Edit:
That reminds me...

Why are we normal folks discussing wether or not something is against the rules if that's the mods' job?

I feel like I'm gonna be called out again so I just leave this here...
Notice: You can now comment on individual chapters, where spoilers are allowed. Please do not post spoilers on this manga comment thread.

"You can..."
Q: Do you have to then?
A: No, not really...
Q: Is it wrong to put spoilers then?
A: Yes and No, Yes because you might annoy other user who saw those spoilers (e.g. OP of this thread), No because (again) it is the designated forum on which people can discuss things about that title there (Not in the specific chapter aside).
Q: What do you mean mostly reminder?
A: You can't exactly stop people on commenting on things in the forum (spoilers, racism and whatnot), you (let's say the staff) also can't go around deleting people comments as you please as people will took notice on that and in short will give people an idea like "Man that was unjust! This community has no chill! It sucks!".. when people start to think badly like that.... do you see where I'm going with this? If not this might get you some idea.
Q: Then just give them punishment for giving spoilers!?
A: "Man, this community has no chill! It sucks!".

@DANDAN_THE_DANDAN oh that's true! silly me. 😂

That is all, I suppose.

Just don't click the spoiler if you don't want to get spoiled, its not something that you read by mistake, its something you look into. If someone writes "rant below" you can bet your ass spoilers are going to follow, especially under a spoiler tag. This is stupid.

There there, just wait until OP gets a reply from the staff.

Slightly off-topic, I get irritated more at the guys discussing the current chapters in the manga comment thread. Seriously, they just wrote whatever they were thinking about the new chapters out there, not in the respective chapters. Should I add up more work to the mods by reporting them XD

Hmm... 🤔
Maybe I'm confused, and maybe the mods can clarify this... but I thought that warning about "Please do not post spoilers on this manga comment thread." always implied something along the lines of, "Please do not post spoilers on this manga comment thread without using a spoiler tag."

At least, that's how I've always interpreted it. 😕

Because, I mean, what other use would there be for spoiler tags?
Whenever I write spoilers in chapter threads, I don't even bother to put it behind a tag (unless it's perhaps about future chapters), since whoever's reading that thread would've already likely read the chapter, right?

If my interpretation of the rule is indeed correct, maybe they should re-word it to say something like this:
Notice: You can now comment on individual chapters, where spoilers are allowed. Please put any spoilers on this manga comment thread behind a spoiler tag.

@0xhello

@vigorousjammer is pretty much correct here. The phrasing in the notice alert seems confusing and outdated, and we'll address that soon.

Our actual spoiler policy is that both in manga and chapter discussions all spoilers for past, present and future events are allowed as long as they are hidden with the spoiler tag. The only exception is that in chapter comments specifically the tags are not required for spoilers up to and including the chapter in question.

@ALL

this things is matter for me,
you said this is silly? stupid? dumb? that i'm worked up for this? that i'm offended by the spoilers?
yes.

you guys may say that because you never been a translator, no?
i even believe you guys are the one in the comment that goes "next chapter when?"
without even thinking about the translator,
what matter to you are just that you, can read the new chapter, thats it.
(but not you @MavB_Ver thanks for being on my side)

you guys dont know how much effort, love, and passion i poured into the manga i translate,
you guys dont know how much struggle i face when i face difficult kanji, or idiom, or references.
you can check that none of my choosen manga have been translated to english or other language before.
i translate to deliver a good content for those who dont understand a single fxxking letter but share the same interest,
i translate for those who cant buy or that the manga not available in their area,
i translate because my reader looking forward to it.

but then what?
that bastard destroy it,
even someone already unfollow because of that...

ixVu5BM.jpg

its just the one that visible for me,
how about my reader who dont have mangadex account?
i will never know that they feel the same or not,
there is no point to translate anymore if the story already got spoiled,
there is no point to translate if my readers are not looking forward to it anymore.

so yea, since most likely the staff will do nothing about this, and i have no power to do so,
i may not remove the uploaded chapters, but i'll drop the translation.

@vigorousjammer
"Please do not post spoilers on this manga comment thread"
i read them as is, the meaning also...

"You can now comment on individual chapters, where spoilers are allowed"
i interpret this as, "you can post the spoiler up to the event where the latest chapter available"
how come you discussed something that happen on chapter 7 when the latest chapter available is 5?
because the "individual" is there, so if you want to discuss chapter 7, do it at chapter 7,
if the chapter is not available yet, wait for it until it got translated / uploaded.
thats how i see it.

@Teasday
if thats the case, then do something about it.

So is someone spoiling chapters not available on Mangadex yet? That seems like it should be a rule violation.

@BestBoy
obviously, that should be rule violation, even if there is no rule like that, giving a spoilers is something unforgivable,
but since Teasday said, its ok to spoil the future events as long as its hidden under spoiler tag, we can do nothing about this,
next time someone spoil the manga i translate, i wont bother to report nor make similar thread, i'll just drop the translation,
make a note, and mention the bastard in the comments, so that my readers will blame the said person instead.

@0xhello Ah I see now. Ya it's a pretty shitty rule. That rule should probably be up for debate. If someone wants a story spoiled for them they should have to be DM'd the spoilers instead of having it be posted in comment discussions where someone could accidentally click the spoilers. Comment moderation is really light which can be infuriating sometimes.

i may not remove the uploaded chapters, but i'll drop the translation./quote]
You can ask mods to remove the chapter if you/your group uploaded it.
(If the intent of the statement is that you wouldn't then it should be I wouldn't, not may which implies permission)

I know all those things very well. A random person spoiling some future events - correctly hidden behind a spoiler tag that anyone who clicks on knows what they're potentially getting into - does not remove the joy I get from my hobby. It does not matter to all those people who did not see that spoiler, as well as the people who did see it yet are still looking forward to new releases because a text spoiler is in no way a substitute for a scanlation. Otherwise this site wouldn't even need to exist.

I think you should believe in your readers, the manga's author and your own work a little more.

I like how you have a big issue with people spoiling series you translate but take no issue in flaming someone.

Sometimes spoilers are super necessary. There is some seriously screwed up stuff that you don't always have tags for. Like NTR. Most readers seriously hate that kind of crap and prefer a warning ahead of time so they don't waste it.

Spoiler are do it your own risk thing,
Reader press da button, means they also acknowledge the fact that knowing future event may cause them to be lost interest toward the manga,
i know some jerk intentionally spoiling the fun here n there, but like teasday said, believe in your reader, believe da author,
because,

a guy might be left, unfollow because of dat spoiler,
but
there are more hidden guy in your follower list curious how the author handle the stories, even tho it axed, and later find author another works, just because they enjoy the series you TL (even tho it axed)

take example that yay prison manga ( i forget the exact title, it's about a duke daughter got imprisoned because dumb prince but in the end having vacation and party inside the prison)
it's short, and it looks like axed or skimmed, but a lot of readers become curious and go read the novel, author works.. the TL Haru Party didn't abandon the reader even tho it's practically spoiled here and there..
some maybe left feels the manga is not their cup of tea, but there are more willing to wait for your next release

uuhh...
so, somebody comment that the manga is bad in the manga comment section, citing a spoiler which is correctly put on a spoiler tag, and you're angered as it would decrease 'your' viewer?
if somebody choose to stop reading because the spoiler show that it'll turn bad, it's his choice to read the spoiler and his choice to stop, not the fault of the spoiler nor the one who give it. moreover when he's actually asking for the spoiler
