Beautiful arc that really hammers home and contextualizes the serious nature of Loyd's mission. It tends to get swallowed up in the comedy shenanigans and his exaggerated fretting over Anya, so getting a reminder that there's a more nuanced core to this story isn't a bad thing.

Martha's life is a life many of our (great)grandparents lived. And for some parts of the world, it's the life people are currently living.

The ability to bring a lot of reality to such a story. Props to the writer. It's why it's one of my favourite manga.

In my head canon, the wife recognized both the unrequited love and the suffering the young woman had been through, and took it up as a personal healing mission. I don't know if the author intended us to guess that, but it would make her quite a saintly woman.

I love this arc. It was beautifully done.

BTW, I was confused about the timeline at first but then I thought "Maybe there are two great wars just like our world" and bingo. Martha confirmed that there were two wars between East and West.

With that said, it is time to give the readers some rest and back to fillers (1-2 chapters, maybe?). We know that Endou had been visiting England so he probably is cooking something.

Tatsuya really knows how to tell stories, but this is a huge finger pointing to our current times.
