They're not in the 40ies: after the hostage-taking attempt, the kids were flown away by copters that looked like Kamov-26s without coaxial rotors. The 26 entered production in 1968. Even if we ignore the design as randomly chosen, civilian helicopters are a sign of the 60ies, not the 40ies.
Still 60 years too early...

Its time for Anya to save the world once again.

When the world needed her the most, she answered.

Ah, to be young and naive again. Doesn't matter how well they did in the test and get sorted by their scores. They're still dumb.

Anya being forced to interact with people outside of her (very small) circle of friends is a good thing. She's been relying too much on Becky to coast through school from a socializing standpoint. Connie seems like she'll be fun and the diamond haired kid obsessed with the occult took Anya's jabs in stride (unlike Damian and his cronies) so he'll probably be a pretty chill dude as well.

Also depending on how Anya handles this current situation she may have another (or two) male suitors to make Damian jealous which could advance Plan B. Plus while it may feel a bit ham-fisted to plop a new character who immediately tells us he believes in extraterrestrials in Anya's new class, it does give us another angle to attack the "Is Damian's dad actually an alien?" question that doesn't rely on the usual suspects allowing for some fresh interactions and shenanigans.
I agree! Having Anya make more friends with different personalities can help create more dynamics to keep the comedy, banter and plot moving; I think it'd be really interesting if one of the newer characters caught on to the fact that she can read minds. She hasn't done the best job to hide it and the only reason none of her usual companions have caught on is because they've gotten used to her being strange at times to the point of losing reason when it comes to some of the things she does/says. Also a love triangle does kind of seem like the easiest way to move things along a bit with regards to plan B now that they're in mostly different classes and won't have as many situations to interact. Regardless of one's feelings ab the trope,I can't really see things progressing without one tbh. They're all emotionally immature due to being children, especially Damian who's in denial about his feelings and has never actually approached Anya on his own. All their interactions have stemmed from her trying to befriend him for the sake of plan B and for the most part he's (outwardly) pushed her away.
