Nice reference to Fernsehturm Berlin. I love this manga and it's setting of Cold War era East Germany.

It's fun how it has all the same issues the real East had, such as the West having better music and consumer goods, a secret police (called the SSS - that's like half again as bad as the SS!) that takes an interest in the lives of the citizens to the point of persecuting marital infidelity (apparently based on the Stasi, but even worse - no law enforcement agency I know persecuted anything of the kind, except in religious states like Saudi Arabia or Iran).

But at the same time, it has everything wrong with the real West going with it, too. Like experimenting on PoWs during the war (in real life, to the best of my knowledge, only Germany and Japan did). It has super-elite schools that require more than just passing exams, but also a family interview combined with a high society etiquette exam for the parents (the historic East took pride in its elite education being available to anyone capable of passing the exams, even children of reindeer herders from the Far North). It has super-rich hereditary nobility that owns massive industrial conglomerates.

Truly, it combines the worst of both worlds!
