I'd like a field displaying the date of publication of the first chapter of a manga title (in the case of a true one-shot, the first chapter would of course be the only chapter) for the title page of each manga. I'd expect that, often, only the year would be known if anything at all, but it would be nice to report month and even day when these were available.

Possibly this field already exists, and I've not seen it only because it hasn't been filled for the manga at which I've looked.

One virtue would be that genres, oeuvres, &c could be read in historical order.

Oh yeah, I knew that! And my best guess is that the data won't be added until it won't help me personally. But it can improve the site in the long term, and there are generally people who enjoy making little improvements here and there.

I would find this pretty helpful. I already include date published and date finished publishing for all the manga that I read in my local reading spreadsheet

No joke, I just came here to suggest this. I generally enjoy keeping maintenance on Manga descriptions, Volume images, titles etc. And this kind of task would be right up my alley.

@Holo building on this suggestion, it mighn't be a bad idea to add a drop down menu for the input, instead of manual typing. This way, in the future, a search feature could be added to search by year with no human error issues plauging it.

Also the publishing magazine maybe? Would be nice to be able to filter manga by magazines.

Approve on this. Can be a very good addition, not all the manga and ero have a MU link.

If the Mangadex records for each series included dates then it would later be possible to enhance searches to order results by date. Having a link to another site wouldn't provide this unless the programmers did crazy stuff such as fetching and parsing the pages of that other site.
