Oddly, Kouhei has had a couple of roundabout conversations with Kaede's mom where he indicated his intentions but also urged her not to push things into areas where Kaede isn't prepared to handle them. Not that she's gone along with his wishes completely or anything.

I share your bewilderment, so I looked it up... Apparently not only are they connected only by that itty bitty foot, but the sculpture is in bronze... I suppose they sold their soul to achieve that 😁

Holy shit, it was real!? I had assumed it was made up and the artist was just shitting out funny looking, modern art statues for the background. Now I'm actually pretty impressed.

I've been to the Hakone Open Air Museum and it's actually pretty rad. There's a tower of stained glass with a spiral staircase up through it and a shockingly large collection of Picasso pieces.
