Sorry author. I don't live in Japan. This doesn't apply to me.

The argument being made in this chapter is so poorly presented (it's people giving reasons they pirate and then someone basically saying "no, don't you get it, it's bad though") that I almost wonder if the author was trying to sneak one by the publishers.

Probably not though. They probably did think it was actually a compelling argument.

Publishing contracts aside JP mangaka could just set up a kofi or whatever the JP equivalent of a 'tip jar' is, if there wasn't a communication issue i bet some could make bank with commissions of ocs and self insert art lol

Man have they ever considered that piracy is a service problem?
And that the world is NOT Japan where Manga can be overpriced, not available, the translations are utter shit, or behind the raws by a million years?

Oh and because paying for something that'll get axed is a giant fucking scam?
VIZ translators are very hit or miss
The official english TLs ought to know this and should put a big fat translator note about the authors not knowing how hard mangos are to access outside of japan without piracy

I get Japan, but equating piracy as dine n' dash is pretty damn stupid. Who the hell is gonna go to a bookstore and buy slop like this , pay for a cancelled series without an ending, or buy something they're just gonna stop translating. Plus some of the older ones out there don't have any translations. I prefer physical and I can't even buy my favorite series . If they aren't selling it, is there any loss on their end?
