Other than the typo itself I don't see that as a problem. By any chance are you British or otherwise learned British English? I believe that in British English "cautioning" someone usually means police informing a suspect of their rights.

In American English it doesn't really have that colloquial meaning, so it would make complete sense to tell someone, "I'm cautioning you against making that kind of decision," or something similar.
