It was nice to Marie's jealous side in this chapter and I wonder if this guy will be good or bad since he seemed concerned the first time he saw Aki in the mall.

I'm guessing the lady and the original manager are involved in money laundering through the cafe by creating videos of abusing Aki. Rui found out about the original manager videos and tried to locate Aki to rescue her without revealing that he knew what his friend was doing so he could report him to the police once she was safe. This is my theory if he turns out to be a good guy though if he's not Marie and Aki have a lot in store for them.

Big agree!! I tend to be a little bummed out at yuri/yaoi when there are no fleshed out not-awful opposite gender characters. It comes off too cynical even for my tragedy-loving heart!

The BL in particular because it always comes across as the men being babies. Like, the hetero-patriarchy is why you deal with oppression...not women lol. I'm not saying men can't be bullied by women for being gay, but BL stories always have these rich, powerful and conventionally attractive men who literally face zero threat from a woman's "judgement" and still go out of their way to caricaturize them as jealous homophobes

Like they truly aren't the same, it's more than reasonable for a queer woman to have a poor worldview on men, especially lesbians who often see the worst parts of society being at the intersection of misogyny and homophobia.

I agree with you for the most part I just definitely feel that the cynicism from a sapphic perspective is often very relatable, especially in comparison to Generic Hot CEO Man #342 whose powerless, arranged marriage fiance is still somehow a major villainous force 😭 If I had ten yuan for every time I saw that let me tell you 😂

I'm happy I wasn't the only one who noticed and her tongue was just stuck out for most of the panels. I think we all got that she probably had snake characteristics after the first two panels. Marie may end up using her to help cover up any future crimes or to locate Aki if Rui tries to take her somewhere he considers safer for her.
