i think because they're making him look scary now he's actually gonna help them at some point
At least i hope so bc i don't want another rapey man lurking around them 😭
The same man showed up in
chapter 6. He spotted the girls on their date, and recognized Aki as being the girl being abused by the manager in a video he had on his phone. And now we know he knew the manager personally, and that Aki knows his too. This all points to him knowing about the manager abusing Aki and doing nothing to stop it.
I guess I just in general would want to see an actual non-love interest male ally now and then, if only to at be like, "it could happen", and for there to be female allies to avoid the internalized misogyny BL tends to have.
I think this is nice sentiment, but I follow a lot of yuri manga and I do not sense the serious lack of sympathetic men in yuri. (Even this one features a little guy who helped the girls out.) This impression would be more correct about Korean yuri (which has its own causes), but Japanese and Chinese yuri is very guy-friendly all things considered.
It's also an important factor that most yuri series have a very small cast (and are also fairly short), which can make adding a prominent male supporting character awkward (unless he's prescribed by the premise, e.g. 'I Will Cheer On My Yuri Onee-chan' and 'Shojo Manga Protagonist x Rival'). But I admit I care more about quality than quantity. Wingmen, and supportive male family members/friends are nice, but it's even better when the character is compelling or memorable, e.g. Miura-sensei from 'The Moon on a Rainy Night' and 'Otherside Picnic's Migiwa.
I will say though that at least in my experience, most people who read straight romance are not concerned about the under-representation of queer women in that category as something other than romantic lead or fanservice/jokes. The way many of us yuri fans care about the fair representation of men in yuri, is rarely reciprocated.
