A little addition to the kanji lesson at the end of the chapter. 獄卒, "Gokusotsu," can mean "prison guard," but it can also refer to the demons that torment the damned in Buddhist hell.

Also, background on one of my favorite kanji: 辛, which means "spicy," is based on a pictogram that referred way back when to the cutting tool used to carve scars into criminals as punishment in ancient China.
