I like that even though Kanna knew the girl was scared of her she didn't retreat and instead reached out her hand. I think this may reshape Kanna's image within the school. People seeing her fight tooth and nail to squeak out a win will begin to see her in a new light when they realize her intensity comes with care underneath. Overall I think people will feel less intimidated by her and that may be the start of her being outwardly more confident about what she likes.

I think people in general hold a lot of respect for athletes that give up the win to help their fellow competitors and teammates. You know, things like the lead runner giving up the win to go back and help an injured runner cross the finish line, even if it means coming last. People tend to hold that in higher regard than coming first. TL;DR I don't think Kanna would have been flamed for that, even if she lost.

there's a difference between always doing the same thing together, sleeping together, and actual development.
many stories start with the sex, but there is still development going on after that obviously.
