Their clothes are too open and risque for this frontal attack. They could get some of that choco splash on themself, but why didn't they? Why didn't they use some kind of protection like gloves or even stocking to cover up their bare skins

It's like bikini armor. The alternative is reasonable coverage, and no one wants that.
