she was likely only searching in "common areas", whereas all the jewelry, clothing, money, etc are generally gonna be kept in more secure locations, like bedrooms where her stepmom/stepsister are sleeping.
much more risky to go venturing into those spaces of the house, since she wanted to avoid them entirely and get away well before it was discovered she'd left in the first place.
