I'm just curious, how hard is the vocabulary to read in this series? How often does it use furigana? I'm looking around to buying an original-language manga that I can write notes in and this is one of the series I'm considering.

@ZdrytchX If you're just wanting to practice Japanese, I recommend buying the ebooks so you can use OCR for the kanji you don't know. There are also a metric boatload of official webmanga sites out there these days as well. Jump Plus, Urasunday, Nico Seiga, Alphapolis, etc.

Hmm that's true, although I don't have a good device for e-book reading and annotating. I haven't found any good free OCR that can scan images or the alike yet either, got recommendations @Aereus?

@ZdrytchX Some formats can be ripped to text and use a normal text reader like rikaichan et al. Otherwise I've always used KanjiTomo on PC: Just hover your mouse and it will (usually) tell you what kanji/word it is. Using Firefox on mobile, there is an addon called Nazeka that has quick text recognition and works just like rikaichan. Just tap your finger on the kanji or start of the word and it will list the translation. Ebookjapan has a web-reader if you buy ebooks through them. I have some titles through them, but prefer getting most through Honto bc they offer lots of coupons.

Ahh thanks very much @Aereus

I noticed that Kanjitomo doesn't read coloured text well and doesn't always get it right (e.g. reading the icon of rikaikun, the rikaichan port for chrome) but for the purpose of general manga, it seems to work quite nicely even with black and white text as long as it isn't oriented weirdly. Rikaichan/rikaikun reminds me of TangoRisto, which kinda does the same thing rikaichan does but for news articles to help people adjust to a wider range of vocabulary.

@karappo no, a new volume (which thusfar have always contained 13 chapters) is released every 13 months (so... 1 chapter a month). The original thought was that we wouldn't get new scanlations until the next volume is out, neglecting the idea that the author of Swap Swap might publish new chapters to a magazine (think Shonen Jump Monthly, for example). So my guess is that the current chapters after chapter 39 are from said magazine. Assuming that chapter 39 was released at the start of January 2018/end of December 2017... there may exist 4+ chapters after chapter 39 (of which 2 have been scanlated already).

Yuri comes in all shapes and flavours.

This manga seems to take this quite literally, with melon bread, bananas, strawberries and cherries just popping up every which panel.
