Well, that's the absolute truth.
And to add to your message, I recently read (don't ask why) that, statistically, couples engaged in a bdsm relationship have a stronger bond and last longer than vanilla couples
Yes, I've seen such stats, too. It's consistent with my own experiences, too. (Unfortunately not with femdom irl either, though, I dont know what it is about that dynamic that makes it so difficult. Maybe I've been unlucky. But I tend to gravitate towards maledom, so I that's ok for me I guess.)

I mean, if we have to be critic, this is obviously following Nana to Kaoru steps.
The difference is that in Nana to Kaoru, the romance was built later into the story, as a consequence of their interaction. But for the most, the focus was on the bdsm aspect and the erotic vibe it created.
In this one, on the other hand, romance and eros/bdsm started together and are still going together. They are kinky because they love each other, and love each other beacuse they are kinky.

Now, for other works, Idk what you're reading, but I think the reason they go straight into erotica/soft-porn is because bdsm is still seen as just a kink, a twisted way to have sex. Especially for jousei and femdom in particular, it's just seen as something perverted, with almost nothing romantic.
I'd argue that, even if they didnt confess to each other before doing their kinky stuff, Nana to Kaoru was very much still framed as a romance. Kaoru was always pining over the fact that he felt that he wasnt good enough for Nana. I wouldn't classify it as erotica first romance second. This series is different in that the dom here is much more confident in himself and that's probably why they managed to get the confession out earlier.

I dont have many good examples of things I've read, because it's been a while, but one example (that is, admittedly, more erotica than romance) is Tsumi to Kai. It's a long-form femdom manga that is often compared to Nana to Kaoru, but god is it different. The MC is forced to wear a chastity cage because of blackmail and there is literally zero consent involved. Like, at all. I guess that it might seem hot to some readers, but when a series goes on for a long time and they try to portray a romance (which is what happens), it falls flat for me. I can't enjoy a romance that's built on such lopsided dynamics and a lack of consent.

I absolutely knew this was coming - the foreshadowing was well-laid - and now Sawada's twigging that she loves him to distraction and yes, this is a problem.

I'm a little, no, quite worried for them. Now it seems it's not if they are discovered, but when.

And oh fuck is it not going to be pretty if she's found tied up in the women's toilets.
