This sure turned up the tension out of nowhere. We went from fan service and character developments to suddenly trebuchet attacks from either A. a genius child who invented it or B. another otherworlder and the latter is more likely. He's always been hesitant to introduce larger weapons of war and now here they are getting blindsided by one and, as others pointed out, are about to let the best girl in the manga get taken prisoner.

I don’t think she’ll allow herself to be taken prisoner, she’ll fight to the death.

Why do I want Kazura to go down the path of Mitsuha in "Saving 80,000 Gold in Another World for My Retirement" and hire some modern day mercs and raze that other county into the ground?

I guess we’ve 100% confirmed another foreigner here. Looks like a reincarnator though… maybe the Kazura family situation is unique? I’m interested to see this play out.

If… if he REALLY wants to, he can end this. He could bring military gear. It would be a step he can’t take back, but it is possible.

yes and no. There is a lot more to it than that, especially given what next volume is about. Which is a very important part of the story we haven't been told Yet.
Would you be willing to elaborate on that? Any spoilers are fine.

So they haven't noticed a marching army and a trebuchet being built in their back yard.
Why are they building a wall and watchtowers in the first place when they are this ridiculously incompetent?
The enemy could have just marched in through the gate considering how absent the guards seem to be.

i dunno. i doubt he could bring in military gear esp considering japans laws regarding weapons. remeber he only has alot of money but no status or anything in the real world. he could however bring in info to manufacture blackpowder and related firearms but there is no infastructure set up to actually iron out the kinks and mass produce so it would be too late. (they dont have the tech to produce smokeless powder, primers, etc for modern firearms)

kinda agree kinda dont. the enemy was dressed up as slaves in a town or something on the border but yeah they shouldve absolutely seen trebuchet being built and atleast been on some alert even if they didnt know what it was.

Nobody guards the border, nobody bats an eye when an army logistics train arrives with simple slaves, nobody questions a bunch of people forking all night, probably with bright torches next to the wall, nobody actually patrols the walls.

It's wrong on so many levels it's an asspull of the highest degree.

Anyway I'm just rambling here, I already learned not to ask much of an isekai, but this is some "somehow Palpatine has returned" tier stupid.

they do guard the border, its why the forts there in the first place.

there isnt trains and when a group of slaves arrive to a border town its not like they can do anything about it. They are under armistice so they cant go "investigate" the slaves as that would then make them the aggressor. it is kinda bad writing that there would be a town AND fort of enemies literally within viewing distance though. A fort doesnt need to be right on the border to guard the border, it would be better to build it back a bit further and in a more defendable position and maybe construct a relay tower near the border with a pyre they can use for signals if they that worried.

nights can be very very dark outside of cities so id imagine its the same for this world and it was possible to just not see them assemble the trebuchet but..

yeah they should absolutely have people patrolling the walls and perhaps there is in the LN but didnt include in the manga for whatever reason. i find it hard to believe that a fort with several hundred people had no guards on walls
