I… don’t think it’s a good idea, but I do understand it to a degree. She’s saying that the girl is trying to defend herself. It’s come up a few times in the dialogue that the rich man who’s after her is a genuine pervert and keeps feeling her up in conversations. He’s a creep, who’s trying to use his money to buy a young girl so that he can own her.

Meanwhile, she’s seeing a chance to escape from a pervert and end up with someone she actually likes. She doesn’t “love” our MC, but she does like and respect him. That plus his ability to help their nation, and yeah. She’s protecting herself without abandoning her duties as the lord’s daughter.

Again, I don’t agree with it. But I understand it. She’s using the MC, but not… to harm him. She’s not malicious or cruel, and I think that’s very important.
