At the moment, it seems that recommendations only contain series rated "Safe" (which are displayed even when the content filter is set to exclude that rating - which feels like it might be a potential oversight...) - however that leads to some silly situations where a fluffy wholesome series can be one of the recommendations that appears under some hardcore hentai.
The real issue with this is that for some series (mainly ones rated anything other than "Safe") that content rating may be a significant part of the appeal (take interspecies reviewers for example, or literally any of the countless other manga that have fanservice as a core part of the plot), so by not considering the content rating the recommendations that end up being given can turn out to be wildly off the mark.
Just make the recommendations take the rating into account like they do any other tag and it would inprove them greatly - though you should probably sort out the content filter issue first, so as to avoid people accidentally getting hit with an "Erotica" rated series when their content filter is set to "Suggestive" series at max.
