Oh wow , I cried at this chapter.
I don't know if the father is just failing spectacularly at trying to calm her, or is a jerk. Becouse a phrase like "it's the best for him" , it's something that can have the complete opposite effect, and also being completly false, as everything screams political manouver (from adopting him into the duke familiy to completly sever contacts for no reasons (for the MC pow)).
At least they could have conceded a last goodbye moment.
This chapter also make me understand that if this world as actually a god (and everything isn't becouse of a eleborate scheme, maybe involving the MC killer fo chapter 1) then it's Incompetent and a Malevolent Jerk. A god that can't be prayed, but it must be preyed on.
