Many romcoms end the moment the couple get togehter, it was the nromal thing years ago, is a relatively recent thing for romcoms with fanserivce to continue after the confession.
Unfrotuantely for us, this manga followed the old tradition.
We don't know why the heroine became a gyaru, I suspect that she started falling behind with her studies after being on the top for a long time and that made her crash in a bad spot, but the senpai saved her from going to the worse result.
The true best friend had a good thing going on, high chances for them to get together, but will we ever know for sure? Maye on twitter shorts or extra chapters on the serialization final volume.

Yeah true, this ended with way too much potential juicy stuff it could have done, what a bummer that it ended prematurely.

It left alot of side stuff and characterisation unfinished so I have to imagine this got axe-kun'd especially as they very quickly went from 2 to 10 on the relationship side.

Ah well, at least it was a good axed ending; I'll always think back to "Giri-Giri Saegiru Katagirisan" as the ultimate example of how bad things can get with bad rushed axed endings (do read it though if you haven't, it's great bar the terrible ending).

If Mashiro and Hamada were out like that on Christmas Eve then they are either stalking Tadashi and Ruu or they're on a date.I agree that it is a bit ambiguous but they're not obviously spying at least. I think that since the others are shown pairing up then that was the intent here too but it could have been executed better. Oops. Page 14. They're spying.

Long time from when I read it but if I recall it right FMC and MC were always close from when they were kids, she was proud of having high grades in school and being capable, I think there was a chapter with a single page dedicated to her past with her grades being lower and she being clearly depressed by it, she meet the gal senpai that introduced her to that path.
Given how other stories or hentai go with gyarus she had a very good turn and only started to dress like one and didn't pursue their stereotipycal activities (seen too many hentai with a girl going into the night life after something ruined their day).
So, we more or less know what happened, but that deserved a chapter of its own and the authro didn't make one.
