It's genuinely undermining the plot. This is a perfectly coherent story: Rui is a tall, handome woman who pulls off cross dressing perfectly, yet once she stops binding her chest, he can't help but be attracted to her. But then the author draws her looking like the girliest big boobed feminine beautiful woman lady ever and it makes the protagonist look like a total fucking moron.

It's kinda like a trust issue. "Most guys are mean, so why are these ones being nice?" They are only "seeing" what they are used to seeing. Or rather they can't see what they are not used to seeing.

It's kinda like IRL, where guys miss all the hints because they almost never get any. So it doesn't occur to them until later that the person might actually be interested in you.

Yes, the artist is. In First Love Zombie, they at least gave the reverse trap lead have a small enough chest to pretend to be male. Rui's boobs are far too big for that to work.
