Well... I have issues with my vision. That's why I need glasses, lol. These are the places I've checked and their price:Assuming you have had no issues with your vision, go with one of the less pricey places, but make sure they don't lock you into buying your lenses/frames from them - some of those places are either pricier on that half of the equation or just have crap selection, so being able to walk out with a copy of your prescription is a good thing to ask about beforehand. I go to a more middle of the road place, but I'm old enough that I want to get a slightly more thorough checkup (also I have a family history of diabetes, and while I've been okay on that front so far I want to catch that early if it does decide to show up).
America's Best: Free eye exam if you buy 2 frames for $80.
Local Japanese place: $110.
Local Japanese place 2: $80.
Local Korean place near a college: $40, $20 discount if you buy a frame from them. Frames are probably gonna be pricier, though.
I just need a prescription for my new lenses. Will definitely ask for that. I can get a generic, decent frame to use for the time being, while I shop for other frames on Zenni. Probably gonna go to Costco to make lenses for the new frames. Price-wise, seems like the 4th place is the best choice. But I don't get why there's such a drastic price difference between these places. Unless their exam procedures differ, somehow. I wonder if the Japanese places have some glorious superior Nipponese tech to examine my eyes...
