@Halo
If I were to turn my laptop into a desktop, then I might as well get a newer, better computer and have it be a desktop, don't you agree? I have keyboards already, the only thing missing would be a monitor. Unfortunately, the first problem is money, since we don't have any to buy machines.

I'm too empathetic or sympathetic or whatever -pathetic you wanna call it, I reported a problem to my school and they asked for my teahcer's name, and although I don't particularly enjoy his way of teaching, I can see that he is very enthusiastic about teaching us, so I feel bad that the higher ups will give him a warning or something just because of a mistake, it's stupid but I hate this feeling..

What was the mistake tho?
Did he accidentally show porn on a Zoom call?
Also, your bio has said "I got bored of my previous description, so I'm working on a new one." for a long while now.
When are you going to change it?

Long story short, we're supposed to use a CAD program given to us by the school (we shouldn't pay), but our teacher didn't mention this at all and asked us to do 3D models of some sketches, we were using the trial version of a certain CAD, but surprise it lasted less than 2 days. I asked a student that is more advanced what should I do and he told me the first sentence and that I should contact the school. Blah blah blah i sent an email and the person in charge asked for his name (and nothing else, which is why it worries me).

It makes me feel worse since I found a 30 day trial for another CAD program and now I feel like I blew the situation out of proportion.

If this is actually the case, then I'm guessing the school would've found out regardless. I'm sure the teacher would act like an adult and recognize his mistake either way.

If info about the free CAD program is in the syllabus or an announcement or whatever, then ultimately the teacher would be in the right (albeit not really if the info was obscure to certain degrees). I've been in similar situations before tho, where a teacher/professor's intent can be interpreted differently based on how a few sentences can be read and shit. Pretty annoying tbh, but it's always been resolved by just contacting them.

@sterven This is what you get for skipping leg days.

You're a good person, @Richman If I were you, I'd be anxious about them disclosing my name and the teacher fucking me over somehow down the line.

Depending on where you live and the school you go to, teachers/professors are somewhat contractually obligated to follow their syllabus.

However any mistakes on the syllabus that can be detrimental to your grades/academic progress are to be always fixed by the teacher, admins will make sure of this.

School grants and budgets are usually performance based so there is an incentive for them rectify this.

Odds are your teacher might waive the assignment if he didn’t mention anything about purchasing the software you needed.

But if he did mention buying it, well that’s your fault for not reading instructions or listening in class.

You don't need to worry, I'm already fucked because apparently my sketches are not good enough, even some of my classmates who told me they cheated way worse than me (I used a ruler for thin, very light lines that I then passed by hand) by directly tracing the desgin still didn't get over half of the score (even though they aren't worth much, they are sketches, it's still 50%). Idk, there are some designs that I can say I could've done better but there are others where it is pretty much indistinguishable between mine and the rest.

Maybe I didn't shade correctly, maybe my lines are wonky, maybe they aren't dark enough, maybe my circles are shit or maybe I used the wrong technique somewhere. Eventually I'll get it right, and with CAD it's even easier, what took me 2 hours each I did in 30 minutes all in one go.

It's been pretty hectic so I haven't taken a look at the syllabus to see what's up, but I do know that the teacher definitely didn't tell us to buy the program from our own pocket.

@bigtiddyoneesan
It's not a free program, it's payed but they do have an academic version or something, which I assume is what the uni is using. Anyway, what's done is done, it hurts so bad but I'll get through it and then get waken up at night with regret 5 years later.

If you haven’t looked at the syllabus then this is most likely on you.

Always read your syllabus, it’s there for a reason.
